What will you be doing when you help prepare a meal?
Because
HOPE’S KITCHEN is preparing meals for
the public, Health Department Standards must be followed. This means Hats
and Gloves must be worn when handling food (these will be provided).
Below is the
typical schedule for Saturday. Your organization will be contacted with
specifics.

AM Volunteers Arrive
Designate an Office Person to help take phone calls
Volunteers WASH THEIR HANDS once they arrive and listen to the
Briefing of the day's events

Make Coffee
(Regular in big pot; decaf in small), lemonade, ice water
·
Wash tables
and sweep if necessary
·
Roll
silverware with napkins
·
Prepare
meal according to instructions
·
Set up
assembly line
·
Pray
11:15 AM
·
Start
deliveries and pick-ups
·
Pack up
meals for deliveries in carry out trays * Don't forget dessert *
Briefing on where
guests are located * Use maps from office if needed
·
Send out
drivers
Serve people in Cafeteria Restaurant Style
Hope's Kitchen prides itself in excellent service thanks to excellent
volunteers--Keep it up!

Take coats,
ask for drink orders (Water, Coffee, Lemonade)
·
Get plates,
silverware and meal
·
Feel free
to visit with guests and encourage conversation between guests!!!
Clean Up
** Please use ONLY
HOPE’S KITCHEN supplies (They are
labeled)
If supplies are running low contact Susan or Andrew to get more!! **

Sweep
floors (Brooms and dustpan in Janitor's closet)
·
Clean
Tables
·
Dishes (
See instruction sheet for proper washing techniques)
·
Rinse trays
in warm soapy water and stack them next to dishwasher
·
Empty and
wash out drink coolers
·
Take trash
to dumpster and put in new bags
·
Out door
next to refrigerator in kitchen; up stairs out door ; dumpster on your
right
·
New TRASH
BAGS are in Janitor's closet
·
Place all
Hope's Kitchen supplies (They are labeled) in Big Blue Tub
·
Gather
Hope's Kitchen Towels and rags; Put in bag so they can be quickly found
and washed!
